Drat! Somebody beat me to the draw and has just published the history of peanut butter.

Americans, it seems, are the only people in the world who have fallen in love with this delectable concoction; on average, we eat three pounds of it annually. This may explain why so many politicians sound as if their tongues are stuck to the roofs of their mouths. In contrast, the Brits (and their cousins, the Aussies) have adopted some yeasty mixture they call "Marmite;" it tastes just like British (and Australian) cooking. I'll say no more.
