EDITOR: The Jan. 30 article, "Package intercept leads to felony drug charges" reported the arrest of myself and my fiance, Cody Wynn. The story made severe and negative implications about us both, which are unwarranted. I would like to make readers aware of some pertinent information about the arrest that was not included in the article.

On Jan. 28, police executed a search warrant for marijuana at our house. At the door, Cody told the officers he had a medical marijuana card in his wallet. Disregarding this, they ran into our house with what I felt was excessive force. The environment seemed unstable and I felt our lives were in danger. A calm request that we comply would have been sufficient.

Cody has used medicinal marijuana for years and before moving to Wisconsin we checked the law, Wisconsin statute 961.41(3g), which we interpreted to mean that he could use it legally in Wisconsin as well.

There is no mention of the medical marijuana card in the criminal complaint, which is unfortunate. Associating other criminal cases with Cody's is wrong, as his case is unique and we are both good, productive people.

Spencer
