Agnesian HealthCare's Spiritual Care Services is sponsoring a monthly Community Drumming Circle the first Tuesday of every month in the St. Agnes Chapel, 430 E. Division St. in Fond du Lac.

The free event runs from 7 to 9 p.m., with the first session set for Tuesday, Feb. 5. Drums are provided.

Drum circles are places where participants can explore possibilities. "As music is created together, participants experience feelings of accomplishments while contributing to something bigger than themselves - the circle in which they are playing their music," according to Dawn Vandenberg, a staff chaplain at Agnesian HealthCare.

In the circle, participants learn from each other, and the music made transcends artificial differences and labels of age, ethnicity, gender and ability. The unity of the drum circle is also spiritual, healing and therapeutic.
