Free SPIRIT Riders of Fond du Lac was among 145 civic and charitable organizations to receive a grant from the Green Bay Packers Foundation. The Foundation awarded $145,000 during its annual distribution this week, said Charlie Lieb, chairman of the Foundation committee. Both the total donation amount and the number of recipient organizations are records for the Foundation.

Free SPIRIT Riders received $2,500 to fund its Ridership Program, which allows support for those who are eligible for therapeutic equine services and referred by their physician, physical therapist, special education teacher or other to participate in therapeutic horsemanship, regardless of the family's ability to pay for the services.

Free SPIRIT (Special People In Riding Therapy) Riders, Inc. was founded in 1987, with a commitment to enrich the lives of children and adults with disabilities through safe, therapeutic interaction with horses.
