Wisconsin Rapids man does community service for fireworks explosion that injured 11

A 67-year-old Wisconsin Rapids man authorities said was at least partially responsible for a fireworks malfunction that injured 11 people in Rome pleaded no contest Tuesday to reduced charges.

Michael H. Rose has already completed the required 50 hours of community service and will pay $857 in fines and court costs for three misdemeanor counts of negligent handling of burning materials. The charges were reduced from second-degree reckless injury, second-degree reckless endangerment and injury by negligent use of explosives.
