One of the goals of United Way of Inner Wisconsin's Volunteer Center is to recruit and match volunteers for non-profit organizations needing your help in south Wood and Adams counties. The following are this week's volunteer opportunities.
Literacy Council of Wood County: Scrabble tournament volunteers are needed for an event March 12 in Marshfield. We need volunteers to help promote the event, distribute posters, round up teams and help with set-up and clean-up. We will train you. This is a fun-raiser. The only requirement is having fun.
Lowell Center: Many volunteers are needed for the tax program. Tax aides, tax program client facilitator and tax program greeter/receptionist. Tax aide: In this job you will be preparing taxes and answering questions. You will also be e-filing taxes, when requested. This job is once a week for five to six hours over a 2 1/2 month period. Client facilitator: This job is once a week for five to six hours over a 2 1/2 month period. During this time you will be screening tax clients, preparing papers for the tax appointment, and assigning them to appropriate Tax Aides. Greeter/receptionist: This volunteer position would be for once or twice a week for five to six hours over a 2 1/2 month period. In this job you will be greeting and directing clients to the registration table.
Personal Essentials Pantry: Volunteers are needed to assist people with choosing from a list of essentials and to fill a bag with the request. The volunteers need to be able to walk some distance.
The Neighborhood Table: The Neighborhood Table needs a variety of volunteers for several tasks, including: bakery pickup team, carry-out meal coordinator, Feeding America procurement volunteer, food and supplies inventory coordinator, kitchen helper, meal coordinator, site closer and sponsor. Vesper Community Academy: Volunteers are needed during the school year to assist with the after school program or during early dismissal days. Volunteers are needed to hold a demonstration or small class session on a talent/interest such a scrapbooking, etc.
