I had my first 700 series in the past two seasons last week, a 732 in the Wednesday Night Washout on games of 234, 240 and 258. More importantly, my score was high enough to claim a spot on the honor-count board at Apple Valley Lanes.

There had been numerous close calls since my last 700 series - scores that could have reached that significantly round total or better, if only I hadn't missed a spare or rung a 10-pin somewhere along the way. The 240 showed me very succinctly how quickly a possible 279 game can come crashing down with the erection of a "Greek Church" (4-6-7-9-10 split) in the ninth frame.
