Money drives progress

Self-government is no longer a novel idea. We the people have been doing it for some time now. It is, as the president said in his State of Union message: "often frustrating, but absolutely necessary work.."

Messy, too, it is, as some of our people call for secession, revolution, class warfare, and "throw the bums out." The people who represent me in Congress all campaigned to make a difference - two Republicans and one Democrat from the state of Wisconsin. They are mine - even though I did not donate money to all of them.

Patriots must also be realists, however. Trying to make a difference as the tug and pull of money seems to often drive the train of progress is challenging, but we have a right to demand it from those we sent to Washington to make a difference.

Ron Johnson is my senator. I asked him to provide updates, but never seem to get them from his office. He voted against the Violence Against Women Act and called it unconstitutional. Just wanted an update on his rationale. Asked him for it.

I am not on his donor list. Does that matter?
