OPD warns of tax time phishing and emergency scams

The Oshkosh Police Department is alerting citizens of an email phishing scam that you may receive stating that your federal tax return has been rejected. The City of Oshkosh IT Director sends along this message:

Below is an example of a phishing attempt that is used during tax time to have citizen's open the attached PDF/ZIP file. Whenever receiving emails from unknown senders, look closely before opening anything within them. A few obvious points on this email - U.S. Department of the Treasury's EFTPS does not use "Google Mail," nor would an individual named Jamal Hays have the email address ...
