Sheboygan mayoral primary unofficial results: Van Akkeren, Vandersteen advance

Sheboygan Mayor Terry Van Akkeren and Sheboygan County Supervisor Mike Vandersteen advanced to the April general election after outpolling Ald. John Belanger in Tuesday's three-way primary race. In unofficial vote totals, Van Akkeren finished first with 1,789 votes, ahead of Vandersteen who was second with 1,402. Belanger finished third with 1,219 votes and was eliminated.

Van Akkeren and Vandersteen will now square off in the April 2 general election to determine the city's next mayor.
