With Brooklyn dream pop duo Ex Cops, it's easy to use clichés like "sunny harmonies," "shining jangly guitars" and "effortlessly catchy." But sometimes a cliché sums it up perfectly.

That's not to say that the Ex Cops are a cliché themselves. They've taken a recognizable indie pop sound and made it their own on new album "True Hallucinations," which proudly thumps star-glossed production, plenty of effects pedals and acute genre-bending.

Once a boy-girl duo, the band will bring its five-person group to the Meyer Theatre on Tuesday as the latest entry in the the venue's Near Water Concert ...
