WIAA state wrestling: Rapids to go without medalist for first time since 1969

The medal hopes for the Wisconsin Rapids wrestlers ended Friday morning when 106-pounder Patrick Spray lost his consolation wrestleback match.

Spray fell 2-0 to Eau Claire North's Justin Peterson and was eliminated from the tournament.

With no Rapids wrestlers in left in the tournament, the state's most decorated program will go without a medalist for the first time since 1969, the third season of former coach Lewie Benitz's 41-year career. ...
