Knife-wielding astronomer bound for prison

An amateur astronomer who attacked three women he had just met while they were star-gazing with his telescope will spend five years in prison, a Brown County judge ordered recently.

Eric Omdahl, 39, must then spend 10 years on extended supervision, Judge Kendall Kelley ordered last week. Omdahl must also pay $12,000 in restitution to the injured women.

He pleaded no contest to one count of first-degree reckless injury by use of a weapon. Charges of aggravated battery and battery were dismissed but were considered at sentencing. ...
