Spearers braved the snowy weather on Friday to harvest 13 sturgeon, including one of the oldest males in the Lake Winnebago System.

The male, harvested by James Hungerford, was the largest fish of the day at 74.5 inches and 95.6 pounds. Fish had been tagged by the DNR in 2005 and is likely more than 80 years old.

Lake Winnebago: Friday’s total — 13 (1 juvenile females, 5 adult females, 7 males). Season total — 273 (29 juvenile females, 115 adult females, 129 males). No. of fish short of hitting 90 percent harvest cap — 259 juvenile females, 556 adult females, 735 males).
