Green Bay building-permit activity jumped in January, although one large permit from a year ago might make it appear otherwise.

According to city records, builders this January took out 146 permits, which is up significantly from 118 during the same month last year.

But the total combined value of planned construction was $2.8 million this January, compared with $86 million a year ago.

The difference is that the Green Bay Packers last January took out a building permit for $85 million in renovations and expansion at Lambeau Field.

The largest project this January was a $700,000 remodeling at Green Bay Packaging Inc., 1700 Webster Court.
