'Spank!' brings 50 shades of naughty fun to Meyer

This one has girls' night out written all over it.

Based on audience photos on the show's website, you have as much of a shot at getting a man to go to "Spank! The Fifty Shades Parody,'' under his own free will as you do "Menopause the Musical.''

But it only makes sense that a parody of the book that started the so-called "mommy porn'' phenomenon would appeal to the same people who secretly devoured E L James' "Fifty Shades of Gray'' on their e-readers. As the title suggests, "Spank!'' has some naughty fun with the erotic trilogy.

Written and directed by Jim Millan, whose credits include "Marijuanalogues with Tommy Chong,'' the two-hour, sketch-style musical has a naive young heroine and a sexy, billionaire boyfriend (Tasha and Hugh instead of Ana and Christian). There are vampire gags, musical numbers, bumping and grinding, stripteases and otherwise innocent props that suddenly take on sexual connotations. Thus, the description as "part Second City, part Chippendales.''

In keeping with the ladies night come-on, a signature "Spank!'' cocktail will be be available to ticket holders before the show, and audiences can hang around after the show to have their photo taken with the hunky Hugh. Look out, Facebook.
