A plea hearing for the town of Emmet Board member accused of using his elected office to steal about $100 of firewood from a resident ended in a stalemate after attorneys announced they had failed to reach a deal in the case.

Meldon Maguire, 50, of 586 Eau Pleine Park Road, appeared in Marathon County Circuit Court on Friday for a scheduled plea hearing on charges of felony misconduct in office and misdemeanor theft.
