Cleaning services

? Kevin and Beth McBride of All American Cleaning & Restoration of Stevens Point have announced their conversion into a PuroClean Franchise.

PuroClean, a leader in property emergency services, helps families and businesses overcome the devastating setbacks caused by water, fire, mold and other conditions resulting in property damage. The business still will offer the same services for water and fire restoration, mold remediation services, and carpet and upholstery cleaning.

The McBrides have operated their business since 2001, serving customers in Plover, Stevens Point, Wausau, Wisconsin Rapids, Amherst, Waupaca and all of central Wisconsin.

Contractors

? Amber Bliese, an employee of The Samuels Group, Wausau, has accepted a new position as project administrator. Bliese is responsible for shop drawings, project data submittals, change orders, contracts, meeting coordination, meeting minutes and project administrative support.

The Samuels Group is a commercial construction contractor specializing in construction management, owner's representation and general contracting for the commercial, health care, education and government sectors.

Education

? The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point has been recognized for achievement.

Senior art major Ellen Larson of Wisconsin Rapids is one of 13 students in the nation to be named a Language Intensive Focus Track scholar. The inaugural honor provides a minimum of $5,000 to fund her CIEE Study Abroad program in Beijing. Larson said she hopes to become an art historian and curator of contemporary Chinese art.

The UWSP Disc Golf Club ranked ninth in the nation, won first place at the 2012 Great Lakes qualifier and was featured on the website of the Professional Disc Golf Association. The win earned the team home field advantage for the National Collegiate Disc Golf Championships in April.

Doug Moore, a photographer with University Relations and Communications, won 16th place in Nikon's 2012 Photomicrography Competition for a micro photo of a fossilized Turritella agate. He also received an honorable mention for his micro photo of a fossilized stromatolite. Moore collaborated with Biology Department faculty members and used a microscope in the Parasitology Lab to capture the images.

The Helen R. Godfrey University Child Learning and Care Center earned national accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children, the nation's leading organization of early childhood professionals. The center also received the highest rating, five stars, through Wisconsin's new YoungStar program.

Health

? Charis Counseling LLC announced the addition of psychotherapist David Sliefert. Sliefert has experience working with a wide variety of cultures and populations. As a mental health generalist, Sliefert specializes in complex trauma/EMDR, relationship issues, anxiety, mood disorders, disruptive behavioral issues, parent-child and complex family issues. He works with people ages 3 through adult. He counsels children, youths, adults, families and couples.

Charis Counseling, with offices in Wausau and Marshfield, is a state-licensed mental health agency helping clients become emotionally healthy, contributing to healthy friendships, marriages and families.
