Agriculture

Paul Daigle, program manager at Marathon County Conservation, Planning and Zoning Department, was honored as Wisconsin's Grazing Lands Advocate for 2013 by GrassWorks Inc. at its recent annual conference. The award is in recognition of Daigle's leadership, advisory roles and efforts to educate people statewide about the benefits of managed grazing.

Engineering

Pat Bailey, senior consultant, Brad Belmas, project engineer, and Michelle Guoin, project manager, all members of the REI Engineering civil engineering team, attended the American Council of Engineering Companies Transportation Improvement Conference held in Wisconsin Dells.

The American Council of Engineering Companies of Wisconsin and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation partnered to present the 2012 Transportation Improvement Conference. This year's theme was "Forward Together." The conference brought together the department and consulting engineering industry for two days of transportation programming and networking opportunities. Topics presented included FHWA updates, WisDOT technical updates, drainage and water quality design, roundabouts, environmental documentation, erosion control design and best management practices, and roadway safety.

REI Engineering meets the civil/survey and environmental/safety needs of business partners throughout the Midwest.

Health

Jim Ogurek, a licensed hearing aid specialist at Beltone Hearing Solutions in Wausau, attended the Wisconsin Alliance of Hearing Professionals meeting Jan. 11 and 12 in Wisconsin Dells. The meeting provides advanced continuing education programs relating to the care of individuals who suffer from hearing loss. The program included presentations by seven nationally recognized lecturers on a wide range of hearing-related topics.

The Wisconsin Alliance of Hearing Professionals is a membership association that represents hearing health care professionals statewide.

Insurance

William "Bill" Meyer, a Birnamwood native, has joined Clay Marketing Group/American Senior Benefits as a field manager in Shawano.

Clay Marketing Group is a client-focused, independent insurance agency and specializes in serving the needs of the 55-and-older community.

Manufacturing

Mark Haase has accepted the position of plant manager for Schuette Metals.

Haase will be responsible for all manufacturing, purchasing and distribution operations as well as manufacturing support functions, including engineering, planning and maintenance. Haase will implement manufacturing strategies and action plans, manage a team of individuals accountable for problem solving and cost reductions, and schedule stability. Haase also will manage spending.

Schuette Metals, a division of Schuette Inc., is a fabrication company located in Rothschild.

Sales

EO Johnson Office Technologies made the following two employee announcements at its Wausau office.

Kim Kohlbeck has been promoted to account executive - Locknet Managed IT Services Division. In her new position, Kohlbeck will consult with businesses and organizations in meeting their IT network needs. She will assist companies in assessing their IT security threats, networks and compliance risks, providing managed IT services to meet those needs.

Joe Bargender has been promoted to network field technician for EO Johnson's Locknet Managed IT Services Division. Bargender works both individually and as part of an IT team to provide on-site support to customers in resolving issues and hardware/software installation projects. He also is part of the Locknet Division Support Center providing remote technical support.

EO Johnson Office Technologies is a leading distributor of print/document equipment, document management systems, IT network services and pure drinking water systems. The company has offices in Wausau, Eau Claire, La Crosse, Rochester, Minn., and Cedar Falls, Iowa. EO Johnson acquired Locknet in August 2012. Services

Janelle Christensen, sales administrator at County Materials Corp., has passed the Organizational Management specialty exam administered by the International Association of Administrative Professionals. Christensen is a member of the Wausau Chapter of IAAP.

To attain the rating, an individual must meet prescribed requirements for education and work experience, and pass a comprehensive examination covering such subjects as economics, accounting, business law, human resources, office systems and technology, and communication.

IAAP is the world's largest association for administrative professionals, providing career information, education, networking opportunities and certification programs. The association works in partnership with employers to promote professional excellence.

Surveying

The Wisconsin Society of Land Surveyors honored Marathon County Surveyor Emily Pierce on Jan. 24 by naming her "Young Surveyor of the Year."

Pierce is recognized for upholding the highest standards of the surveying profession, for giving of herself in the interest of the advancement of the society, and for her achievements and merits as a younger member of the Society. Pierce currently is serving her second term as president of the Wisconsin County Surveyor's Association and has served on the board of directors for five years. She is a member of the Ethics and Standards of Practice committee and the Survey Map Review Group within the WSLS organization, as well as being a part of a group working on a legislative rewrite of the Administrative Codes that govern the minimum standards of property surveys.
