FVTC fortifies training to combat online child sex predators

When Appleton police Sgt. Polly Olson entered an Internet chat room posing as a mother of two preteen girls, she was taken aback with the response.

Olson was approached - and later struck up a lengthy online conversation - with a man from Wyoming who wanted to travel to Wisconsin to teach her "daughters" how to have sex.

"It was very eye-opening to me," said Olson, who determined that her online contact was a convicted sex offender. Authorities in Wyoming are pursuing charges against the man arising from the chat room conversation, she said. ...
