Green Bay school officials: Don't judge us on 1st state report cards

Green Bay school officials say it's unfair for Gov. Scott Walker to target the district for failing grades on statewide report cards before they had time to respond to new standards.

As part of his two-year budget plan, the Republican govenor has proposed expanding a school voucher program to nine school districts - including Green Bay - that had failing schools under new report cards released in the fall by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.

Local school officials and the DPI have said the first year of the report cards should be considered a pilot. ...
