Moose mark milestone for veterans

The Moose Family Center No. 1572 and the Moose Legion reached a milestone when they hosted 40 veterans from the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King on Dec. 22 at the Moose Lodge.

Members of AMVETS Post 1051 posted colors opening the event. The vets were then treated to a free meal and refreshments, Santa stopped in to distribute presents from the Women of the Moose, and the Sweet Adelines were on hand to sing for them.

Records show that just more than 2,000 meals have now been served to visiting vets from King since Dale "Doc" Brown was instrumental in starting this tradition more than 19 years ago. They ...
