Former U.S. Sen. Carol Moseley Braun says it never occurred to her that her race or gender could impact her achievements.

Moseley Braun, the first African-American woman to serve in the Senate, addressed a crowd at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay for Black History Month and Women's History Month celebrations when she gave the remarks.

"I have had a lot of different adventures, but in each case, it was just one foot in front of the other," she said. "I had no clue there was any issue with being brown, or any limit to being brown or my gender." ...
