The committee formed to evaluate options for Washington School for Comprehensive Literacy's future gave no recommendation to the Sheboygan Area School District Board of Education at a special session on Monday, with members saying they were deadlocked on whether to tear down the building or renovate it.

About half the committee favors rebuilding the school and keeping it open, at an estimated cost of between $10 million and $12 million. The others want to close it and disperse its nearly 340 students to surrounding schools, which would save the district about $1.3 million, mainly through ...
