Kiwanis honors student

Sierra Hefferan received the Kiwanis Making A Difference Award on Feb. 12. Sierra is the daughter of Sherri and Kevin Hefferan of Stevens Point. Sierra was joined by her mother Sherri, dad Kevin, younger brother and Jerry Gargulak, representing Washington Elementary School principal Bill Carlson, at the award luncheon. 'Sierra exemplifies student involvement, citizenship and a role model to others. She leads by example and sets goals for herself and works hard to attain those goals,' Gargulak said. Sierra is involved in a number of school and community activities, including co-captain of the Washington School cadet, band orchestra, Just SayIn Club, volleyball, basketball, student council, school store and the Portage County Youth Soccer League.
