The owners of Liquid 8 have agreed to surrender their liquor license and close the downtown Green Bay nightclub by May 31, city officials said today.

A negotiated settlement with Green Bay city attorneys was reached on the same day that aldermen were scheduled to hold a hearing on revoking Liquid 8's liquor license.

Assistant City Attorney Jim Mueller said in an email that the settlement means the tavern at 201 N. Washington St. will be "shut down for good."

Liquid 8 owners Andrew Calhoun and Jennifer Lyn Calhoun could not be reached for comment.

City attorneys moved to revoke the nightclub's liquor license based on allegations of underage drinking, violence and other problems at the establishment, which has been open for nine years.
