Members of North Central States Regional Council of Carpenters are protesting the use on non-union workers on the build-out of the WaterMark building in downtown Green Bay.

Ganther Construction Inc., Oshkosh, is the construction manager. Ganther managed the renovation of the former Younkers building for Vetter Denk Architects and was employed by the developer to oversee the conversion of C.H. Robinson's fifth-floor space.

According to the union, Ganther subcontractor Construction Solutions of the Fox Valley LLC does not employ union carpenters. It contends the company does not meet area labor standards, including in pay and benefits.

"We have no labor dispute with them. We pay our employees competitive rates where they qualify. We have no problem attracting and retaining good employees," Trisha Akey, co-owner of Construction Solutions.

C.H. Robinson, a transportation logistics company, is expected to move into the building in early March. It is WaterMark's first tenant.
