Council seeks more input on sex-offender ordinance

Final decision pushed back at least a month

Two weeks after the De Pere Common Council leaned on the side of discontinuing the city's 3-year-old ordinance that limits where sex offenders can live, the governing body is withholding a final judgment on the matter.

Alderman Larry Lueck urged a majority of the council at its Wednesday, Feb. 20, meeting to table the issue for at least a month.

"I'm not trying to change any votes tonight, but I think there's some information that we could gather that would help this," Lueck said at the meeting. ...
