Sheboygan Area School District faces $5 million shortfall

Salaries likely to be frozen again next year

Due to a projected deficit of $5.5 million next school year, Sheboygan Area School District employees will likely see a salary freeze for the fourth year in a row, according to a preliminary budget update presented to the SASD Board of Education on Tuesday night.

"I looked at this budget again in light of (Gov. Scott Walker's) report and it appears that we will not be getting an increase (in federal funding)," said SASD Assistant Superintendent of Business and Operational Services Gretchen Thomes. "We're still looking at a structural deficit for next school year."
