As leaders of a Wisconsin Rapids nonprofit foundation continue the process of finding a new use for an iconic downtown building, authorities soon will be using it on a temporary basis.

The former Daily Tribune Media building, 220 First Ave. S., currently sits vacant, though the Wisconsin Rapids Police Department will utilize the building for department training exercises, said the chief executive of the foundation that now owns the building.
