One of the goals of United Way of Inner Wisconsin's Volunteer Center is to recruit and match volunteers for nonprofit organizations needing your help in south Wood and Adams counties. The following are this week's volunteer opportunities.

Literacy Council of Wood County: Scrabble tournament volunteers are needed for a March 12 event in Marshfield. We need volunteers to help promote the event, distribute posters, round up teams and help with setup and cleanup. We will train you. This is a fun-raiser. The only requirement is having fun.

The Neighborhood Table: The Neighborhood Table needs a variety of volunteers for several tasks, including: bakery pickup team, carry-out meal coordinator, Feeding America procurement volunteer, food and supplies inventory coordinator, kitchen helper, meal coordinator, site closer and sponsor. Call the Volunteer Center at 715-421-0390 or go to www.volunteerinnerwisc.org for more information on these volunteer opportunities.

The Family Center: The Family Center is in need of several volunteers. Shelter assistants are needed to work with the families who are in residence by helping with any of their immediate physical needs. Responsibilities include listening when clients want to talk, answering phones, responding to crisis calls, logging any information that will help the next person on duty, helping to maintain order, and taking in fresh food donations. An environmental services volunteer is needed to clean weekly. Must be 18 or older, able to work alone with little direction, and be able to work with cleaning chemicals. Hours can be flexible. Office assistants alsoare needed.

Food Pantry Donations: Donate canned food, dry goods, personal care items and monetary donations to any of the local food pantries: Adams County Food Pantry, Christian Life Fellowship Food Pantry, South Wood Emergency Pantry Shelf and the Family Center Food Pantry.

Riverview Medical Center: Volunteer drivers are needed to deliver nutritious meals to area residents throughout the year.
