APPLETON - Fire crews doused a Chevy Silverado burning at a residence on Benoit Street on Wednesday evening.

When Appleton firefighters arrived at around 7:15 p.m., flames were beginning to spread to a nearby garage, said Scott Karpinski, a public information officer with the department.

Firefighters first approached the engine of the vehicle before working on the garage, Karpinski said.

The department estimates the fire caused about $40,000 in damage. A vehicle in the garage was saved.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
