The Medford recently lost longtime resident, Tombstone pizza founder and philanthropist Joseph "Pep" Simek Sr.

Simek died of natural causes Feb. 18 in Milwaukee. He was 86.

Simek co-founded Tombstone pizza in the 1960s with his brother Ronald. They named the pizza company after the Medford bar they owned, the Tombstone Tap, which was located across from a cemetery. ...
