APPLETON - Elizabeth Smart refuses to dwell on the unspeakable childhood trauma that thrust her into the national spotlight more than a decade ago.

The Utah woman, who was kidnapped from her home in 2002 at the age of 14 and subjected to a horrifying nine-month ordeal before being reunited with her family, says she doesn't harbor bitterness or hatred toward her attacker.

Smart, 25, said Wednesday that she's happy, content, confident and dedicated to her mission of reaching out to children who find themselves in abusive situations. ...
