Snow slams Manitowoc area

Some areas report at least 12 inches

Wednesday's storm dumped about a foot of snow on Manitowoc, sending area motorists into ditches, delaying buses and closing the city's library and zoo as well as area schools.

The snowfall, which technically started about 7 p.m. Tuesday, also likely broke a record, said Ashley Wolf, meteorologist with the National Weather Service of Green Bay.

That wasn't too hard to do, since Manitowoc's record snowfall for Feb. 27 was 2.5 inches, set in 1955, she said. ...
