Looking at the detail and intricate textures in the sculptures of artist Calvin Nicholls, it's hard to believe the artworks are made out of paper.

Woodson Art Museum in Wausau has 24 of Nicholls' pieces on exhibit, "Paper Sculpture by Design," and the Ontario, Canada, artist will head here for a slate of programs next week.

Nicholls first became interested in paper arts doing 3D models in design school. He began to focus exclusively on the art form in the early 1990s. ...
