New London, Seymour, Hortonville advance to Division 1 regional finals

New London 56, Waupaca 34

At New London, the Bulldogs steadily pulled away to advance to today's regional final.

Brenna Heise paced New London with 13 points as it jumped out to leads of 10-4 after one quarter and 25-12 at the half. The Bulldogs extended that margin to 39-17 after three.

Both teams turned the ball over a lot and combined for 43 fouls. New London connected on 17 of 28 free throw attempts, while the Comets made 12 of 25.

Mikaila Johnson led Waupaca with 15 points, connecting on four three-pointers.

At De Pere, Carli Peters hit the game-winning shot at the buzzer as the Thunder upset the Phantoms.

West De Pere's Sam Wegener made a pair of three-point baskets in the final minute to tie the game.

Madaliene Plinska led Seymour with 13 points.

Bailey Denis had nine points to lead the Phantoms.

At Hortonville, the Polars Bears used solid defensive play in the first quarter and kept the pressure up the rest of the game en route to the win over the Red Robins.

"We did a nice job full court and also in the half court," Hortonville coach Jeff Chew said. "Offensively, our post players did a nice job scoring tonight."

Megan Lambie scored 12 points to lead Hortonville.

At Pulaski, the Red Raiders never let the Ghosts get untracked offensively and rolled to the win.

Mariah Szymanski led Pulaski with 12 points, while Mallory Nickerson and Emily Simmons added 11 and 10 points, respectively.

No one scored more than five points for Kaukauna.

At Green Bay, the Tritons got off to a fast start, taking a 16-point lead in the first quarter en route to the win.

Brianna Byrne led the Tritons with 20 points. Sabrina Rapisarda made five three-point baskets and finished with 18 points.

Menasha was led by Katelyn Sewall, who finished with 14 points.
