Luxemburg-Casco's Luke Destiche (220 pounds) and Newton Smerchek (285 pounds) are the best in the state. The Spartans' powerful pair won Division 2 state championships Feb. 23 at the WIAA State Individual Wrestling Tournament.

The road to a title for Destiche (44-7) started with a 1:11 pin of Cambellsport's Taylor Flasch (32-11) in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals Destiche faced Austin Roberts (32-1), an undefeated wrestler from Rice Lake. Destiche won again with a pin, this time in 3:21.
