Even in a loss, the Port Edwards girls took a step forward.

A young and feisty Loyal team jumped to an early lead and rode it to a 49-37 Division 5 regional semifinal win over the Blackhawks during a Division 5 regional semifinal game Friday night.

Despite the loss, the Port girls had their best season during Deb Martin's tenure as coach and in recent Blackhawks' history. A 17-7 overall record, a playoff victory and a third-place finish in the Central Wisconsin Conference-10 are just a few of the steps the young Port girls made this season. ...
