Packers looking to spend wisely with Canty due to visit

Defensive end Chris Canty will visit the Green Bay Packers next week, agent Brad Blank confirmed Friday.

Canty, 30, was cut by the New York Giants this offseason. He reportedly met with the Tennessee Titans and Kansas City Chiefs before the NFL scouting combine last month, and the Jacksonville Jaguars reportedly are interested in him also. He's scheduled to get a medical checkup and meet with Packers officials Wednesday and Thursday.

The Packers are looking to upgrade their defensive line, and Canty at 6-foot-7 and 317 pounds has prototypical size for an end in their 3-4 defense. The Packers ...
