Academically, Lauren Kita is a freshman but when it comes to basketball her coach would beg to differ.

"You can't call her a freshman anymore, she's definitely a sophomore," said Gibraltar coach Josh Kropuenske after watching Kita score eight of her game-high 16 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Vikings to a 52-47 Division 5 regional girls tournament semifinal win over Lena Friday night in Fish Creek.

The victory sends the Vikings (11-13) into the regional championship game today at Hilbert, a 46-35 winner over Sheboygan County Christian. ...
