School funding freeze worries administrators

School districts are facing a bleak budgetary future if Gov. Scott Walker's call for a freeze in revenue limits during his biennium budget address becomes law.

Walker's budget proposal would increase state aid to school districts by $129 million during the next two years, but freezes the total amount districts can raise between local property taxes and state aid. The effect of the increased aid would drive down local property taxes, but it would provide no new revenue for districts as they face increasing operational costs.
