A local utility company is warning residents to be on the lookout for potential scam artists who pose as utility workers to steal money from customers.

Scammers posing as utility company employees have been contacting small businesses and residential energy customers of Wisconsin Public Service Corp., requesting payment for delinquent accounts, according to a news release from WPSC. The caller advises the customer that utility payments have not been received, and the customer's power is scheduled for immediate disconnection, according to the release.
