The De Pere boys basketball team was hoping for a different ending this time. Instead, it got the same heartbreaking one.

The Redbirds' season ended with a 73-59 loss to Germantown in a WIAA Division 1 sectional championship on Saturday afternoon at Mequon Homestead, the second straight year De Pere lost to the Warhawks with a trip to state on the line.

De Pere fell behind 13-2 in the first quarter, and although it recovered to tie the game later in the first half, it never could get a lead against a top-ranked Germantown squad that's the favorite to win a D1 state title for the second straight season ...
