Event organizers and participants said this year's Turkeypalooza took on special meaning after recent reports of domestic violence.
Nearly 100 people turned out Saturday at Schofield Park, next to Schofield City Hall, to knock down bowling pins with frozen turkeys, Cornish hens and cabbage heads in an effort to raise money for The Women's Community, an organization that offers support for victims of domestic violence in Marathon County. The cabbage heads were part of a vegetarian bowling lane for participants opposed to bowling with meat, organizers said.
