The Packers will not use their franchise tag on receiver Greg Jennings, according to a report on Foxsports.com.

The deadline for using the franchise tag is 3 p.m. today. The tag would have cost the Packers $10.54 million in salary cap room.

The Packers considered using the tag, either to keep Jennings or to trade him. Instead, they're allowing him to hit the free-agent market, which opens March 12.

If Jennings signs with another team, the Packers will a compensatory pick in the 2014 draft as compensation, probably one in the third or fourth round, depending on their overall net gains and losses in free agency this offseason.
