Four years ago, Austin Hawkins told his middle school boys basketball coaches at the time that one that one day he would help Auburndale reach the WIAA state tournament.

Last Saturday, the bold statement that Hawkins made as an eighth-grader came to fruition in his final opportunity.

With those same middle school coaches in attendance, Auburndale defeated Unity 57-22 in a Division 4 sectional final to earn the program's first trip to Madison in nine years and also the ninth overall for the tradition-rich program. ...
