A proposed life skills center to be built on the campus of Stevens Point Area Senior High has been put on the backburner for the second month in a row.

The Stevens Point Plan Commission on Monday denied approval of the center to be built on school district property at 341 Second St. because of lingering concerns over the property's proximity to bars.

The Stevens Point Area Public School District owns two plots of land sandwiched between the SPASH parking lot and the Cedar Haus Inn. The tavern at 348 Second St. N. is directly across the street and less than 300 feet away, making it necessary for City ...
