In October, United Way of Inner Wisconsin's Women's Leadership Council launched its very first initiative called Learning for Life at Humke Elementary School in Nekoosa.

The program matches youths with reading mentors in an effort to boost literacy skills in children. The hope is to grow the program so it includes all elementary schools in south Wood County, and it has been a tremendous success so far.

When we initially put out the call for volunteers, we were pleased - but not surprised - when United Way of Inner Wisconsin board member (and 2011 campaign chairman) Randy Dhein stepped forward ...
