News that a Tomahawk resident was seriously burned at the nearby Packaging Corp. of America mill Tuesday has left residents grieving in a city of 3,800 where everyone seems to know everyone else.

Mike Slesicki, 53, of Tomahawk was igniting a boiler at the mill Tuesday morning during a routine operation when he was severely burned, Dave Blank, the human resources manager at PCA, said Wednesday. Blank declined to release further details that specified how Slesicki was burned on the job but said the mill has opened an internal investigation over the accident.
